Rose O'Keefe’s focus as a local historian has been on the daily life of Frederick and Anna Douglass’ family in Rochester from 1847-1872. Her MG fiction book is a story set in 1851, told by their 11-year-old son, Lewis. Her four other non-fiction history books are suitable for fourth grade and above.

Rose grew up in the suburbs of New York City. After graduating from SUNY Potsdam, she moved to Rochester and discovered the beauty of the Genesee River Valley and Finger Lakes on camping outings with family and friends. She has lived in the South Wedge for 42 years.
