Susannah

A former field biologist, Susannah Buhrman-Deever writes books that are inspired by the living world. Her book, Predator and Prey: A Conversation in Verse (illus. by Bert Kitchen, Candlewick Studio), was named a 2019 Best Book for Children by the New York Public Library. Her latest picture book, If You Take Away the Otter (illus. by Matthew Trueman, Candlewick Press), received a 2021 Cook Prize Honor, and was named a 2021 American Library Association Notable Children’s Book. She lives with her husband and sons near Rochester, N.Y.
