Keely Hutton is a MG and YA children’s book author and former middle school English teacher. Soldier Boy was honored with a 2018 Children’s Africana Book Award and named a 2017 top ten first novel and 2018 top ten historical novel for youth by Booklist. Secret Soldiers was a 2020 Bank Street Best Children's Book of the Year and 2020 Children's Book Council Notable Social Studies Book for Young People. Don’t Look Back, a YA memoir she co-authored with Achut Deng, is a JLG Gold Standard selection and 2023 Children's Book Council Notable Social Studies Book for Young People.
