James

James Ransome has illustrated over 70 books for children. His newest book, The Bell Rang, which he authored and illustrated, has received four starred reviews and is a Kirkus Best Book of 2019. James received his BFA from Pratt Institute in New York and his books have garnered numerous accolades including Coretta Scott King Awards, a Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor, ALA Notables, a Jane Addams Award and NAACP Image awards. The American Library Association recently named James the recipient of the 2023 Children's Literature Legacy Award. James lives in Rhinebeck with his wife and frequent collaborator, author Lesa Cline-Ransome.
